The California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the general area of high-performance computer networking for distributed and Grid Computing. Specific areas of research include jitter measurement and reduction techniques over long-latency networks and adaptive approaches to overcome high bandwidth-delay product issues using standard protocols and infrastructure.

The position requires a PhD in Computer Science Engineering, or closely related field. The applicant should have relevant experience with Grid Computing, parallel and distributed computing, real-time system design and analysis or IP-based protocols. The successful candidate will develop communication and test software suites and perform characterization and analysis of research and production networks, leading to development of techniques to enhance low jitter and throughput characteristics of the research network.

The initial appointment will be for a one-year period, with the possibility of an extension depending on performance and availability of funding.
